Why only one brand

A built-in Sub-Zero is not a general-purpose fridge with a better door. The combination models run two separate refrigeration systems, one for each section, each with its own compressor, and their controls, defrost and airflow are laid out their own way. Knowing that layout is most of a fast diagnosis.

That is the case for doing one brand: the fault is pinned down on the first visit, the likely parts come with the technician, and a second trip is not needed just to confirm what the first one should have found.

What Edmonds does to refrigeration

The Sound is the local variable. A condenser pulls room air across its coil every time the unit runs, and near the water that air carries salt, which is hard on thin metal fins. The early signs are quiet ones: a unit that runs and runs through a warm spell, a section a couple of degrees warmer by late afternoon, a compressor that feels hotter than it used to.

Found early, that is often a cleaning or a fan motor. Left for a couple of summers, a unit working that hard can end in a sealed-system repair, which is the costly kind. So it is worth a look while it is merely annoying rather than after it quits.

How we price

One flat $89 service call pays for the visit and the complete diagnosis, and it comes off the repair price when you approve the work. The repair is priced before anything is taken apart or ordered, and the figure you agree is the figure on the bill. When a unit is not worth the money, you are told so plainly and pay for the service call alone.
